Macau Gaming Laws

Macau, a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China, has its own set of gaming laws. In Macau, gaming laws are based on administrative law. Macau gaming laws are currently being reformed so that additional operators can participate in gaming, in order to increase competition. Currently, Macau has signed concession contracts with six operators, allowing them to open more than one casino each. Macau also allows pari-mutuels (dog and horse racing), sports betting and lotteries.

In Macau, concessionaires must be public companies, to which special rules apply. Gaming promoters are also subject to specific company law rules. In addition to company rules, gaming in Macau is subject to a set of special tax laws, criminal laws, and contract laws.
