Avoiding Litigation with Arbitration

Litigation is expensive, public, and often can be prolonged for years with appeals. Increasingly, more parties with a dispute are turning to alternative dispute resolution to avoid litigation. One form of alternative dispute resolution is arbitration. Arbitration is a proceeding in which an impartial third party hears a dispute and reaches a final decision. Arbitration is most commonly used for commercial disputes.

Dickinson Wright’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group consists of attorneys experienced in assisting clients with disputes without using litigation. Dickinson Wright’s attorneys have served as arbitrators, facilitators, and mediators for federal and circuit court judges and the American Arbitration Association. In addition, our attorneys have been recognized as some of the best Alternative Dispute Resolution attorneys in the country, with awards from Best Lawyers, Chambers, and Super Lawyers.

Dickinson Wright’s arbitration lawyers have assisted clients throughout Michigan, including corporate entities, municipalities and governmental entities. Some of the substantive areas of law in which our attorneys have represented clients using alternative dispute resolution are:

  • Commercial litigation
  • Product liability/personal injury
